Description

Firstly, this presentation will review the differential diagnosis of organic-based psychotic disorders versus substance-induced psychosis. Additionally, this presentation will reflect on current trends and clinical implications associated with cannabis-induced psychosis. Lastly, this presentation will focus on current trends in psychosis-based disorders, particularly looking at the increased acuity post-COVID.

Presenters

Dr. Robert Sanchez, PsyD, LMHC
Dr. Robert Sanchez’s academic journey began with an Associate Degree in Mental Health from Del Mar College in 1989, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas (San Antonio) in 1992. He earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University in 1995, a non-terminal Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University in 2003, and a Doctorate in Clinical and Forensic Psychology from Albizu University in 2008. Dr. Sanchez also completed an APA-accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship with Citrus Healthcare Network in Florida in 2006 and a Post-Doctoral Internship working with the Department of Corrections in California in 2009. Additionally, he is a Nationally Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) and a proud member of the Association of Intervention Specialists. Dr. Sanchez’s clinical approach is grounded in empirically-supported intervention methods for treating various addiction and mental health disorders. This expertise is derived from 33 years of training and education in the behavioral health care field. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director, in various healthcare organizations. Additionally, Dr. Sanchez has served as an expert consultant in forensic settings across multiple states, providing insight in courtroom forums, jury research/mock trials, and working with the Department of Corrections.
