Description
This training offers an exploration of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), with a focus on core theoretical foundations and practical implementation. Participants will examine the principle of dialectics as a guiding framework in DBT and learn how to apply it to both client dynamics and clinical decision-making. Therapist and client characteristics that contribute to effective DBT work will be highlighted, with attention to the therapeutic stance, commitment strategies, and use of the therapeutic relationship. Additionally, attendees will gain a clear understanding of DBT's treatment hierarchy and how it guides prioritization of treatment targets.

With a strong background in substance misuse treatment, Summer Creekbaum is dedicated to supporting individuals on their path to recovery. She is currently a Licensed Master Social Worker at Imagine Recovery in New Orleans, Louisiana. Summer earned her LMSW at Southern University at New Orleans and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Louisiana State University.
Summer has extensive experience in evidence-based practices, specializing in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help clients develop skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. Passionate about professional development and education, Summer is committed to equipping fellow professionals with practical DBT strategies to enhance client care.
