Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to improve diagnosis and treatment by professionals of co-occurring disorders of depression and substance use disorders.
Description
The training will address the fundamental problematic approaches to the conversation or intervention attempts about substance use disorders with affected individuals; offer alternative strategies tied to underlying issues that cause both depression and SUD; and identify evidence-based treatments and how and why they are more or less effective.

Presenters

Ronald Mah is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. He is the author of “Difficult Behavior in Early Childhood,” (2006), “The One-Minute Temper Tantrum Solution” (2008), and “Getting Beyond Bullying and Exclusion, PreK-5, Empowering Children in Inclusive Classrooms” (2009), in addition to several e-books and DVDs. Dr. Mah has 16 years of experience in early childhood education. He is the owner of a childcare center and has elementary & secondary teaching credentials. He is also on the Board of Directors of the California Kindergarten Association and was a college instructor. Dr. Mah is the Co-Director of the MFT Masters Program at the Western Institute for Social Research, Berkeley. He is also on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapist (2008-2012) and (2021-current) and has presented for CAMFT conferences and symposiums.
