Description
This course will culture the importance of assessing and working within the unique cultural makeup of Latino families. There are some fundamental differences in the makeup of a Latino family in comparison with Anglo families. As a professional, working within their makeup can reduce the shame of mental health issues and increase the opportunity for successful treatment and recovery.

Presenters
Ana Moreno, LMHC, MCAP, CIP, CAI, CDWF, ICADC is a therapist, interventionist, consultant and educator in Miami, FL. Ana is currently the Co-Founder of R & A Therapeutic Consultants, a Miami practice offering therapeutic consulting and interventions in both English and Spanish. She was the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of Family Recovery Specialists, an Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse treatment program. Ana has been working in the mental health field for more than 18 years. She specializes in working with the families of those in recovery. Ms. Moreno enjoys utilizing her own multicultural background and upbringing to help guide families through the treatment and recovery process. She earned her undergraduate degree from Florida International University and her graduate degree from St. Thomas University. Ana is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Qualified Clinical Supervisor in the state of Florida, a Certified Intervention Professional and a Certified ARISE ® Interventionist. She is also a certified facilitator for The Daring Way ™ curriculum, a shame resilience approach effectively utilized in working with individuals recovering from substance use disorders. Ms. Moreno is a professional member of the Network of Independent Interventionists (NII).
