Presenters
Taralyn Johnson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner with nine years' experience treating the physical complications of eating disorders. She is the attending provider for the medical team on the adult Residential Treatment Center at Center for Change. Taralyn is passionate about keeping her patients safe, making eating disorder treatment as comfortable as possible, and educating her patients and their families about the physical consequences of these illnesses.
Dr. Mishell Hashmi is the Director of the Eating Disorder program and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University in 2007. She has extensive experience working with eating disorders in Residential, PHP, IOP and outpatient settings. Dr. Hashmi uses an integrated approach and is experienced in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Dr. Hashmi has also completed training in Family Based Therapy (FBT) for eating disorders, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Dr. Hashmi enjoys working with teenagers and adults. She also has extensive experience working with individuals with self-injury, trauma, mood disorders and transgender issues. She currently President of the board for the Missouri Eating Disorder Association (MOEDA).
Dr. Patrice Ryan is the Director of the Reproductive Mental Health Program at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute. Prior to holding this position, she was a member of the clinical staff of the Eating Disorders program at SLBMI for 6 years. She has treated patients that have been diagnosed primarily with Anorexia Nervosa; Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder. She also treats patients that have been diagnosed with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder; PTSD; Primary and Secondary Infertility, or that have experienced pregnancy losses, birth trauma, or infant death.
Apryl Vines is a registered dietitian specializing in the field of eating disorders and Director of Residential Services at Reasons Eating Disorder Center. Additionally, she is a lecturer at California State University, Los Angeles, in the Nutrition and Food Science Department. Her experience in higher education and clinical leadership integrates evidence-based practice with a compassionate, trauma-informed lens. Her work is grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES) and a non-diet philosophy, emphasizing dignity, autonomy, and healing in the recovery process.
Kimberlee Hedrick, LCSW, BCD, CGP
is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 27 years of experience specializing in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders, body image concerns, and co-occurring mood disorders. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work with honors from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1997.
Throughout her career, Kimberlee has worked across the full continuum of eating disorder care, including inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings. She maintains a private practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at LSU School of Medicine. In addition, she is an Eating Disorder Consultant at Maples Adolescent Residential Center, where she provides evaluations, mentorship, and staff training.
A Board-Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work and a Certified Group Psychotherapist, Kimberlee is deeply committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring the next generation of clinicians. She is a frequent lecturer at academic and professional conferences, where she shares her expertise on eating disorder treatment and the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Her dedication to helping others is the driving force behind her passion for work in the eating disorder field.
