Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge about opportunities and barriers for community inclusion for people with SMI.
Description
This webinar will discuss community inclusion in terms of the opportunities that people with serious mental illnesses have to participate in the community, including work, school, dating, parenting, engagement in faith communities, leisure and recreation, volunteering, and friendships. Evidence indicating that inclusion is critical for physical, cognitive, and mental health and wellness will then be presented along with strategies that clinicians can use to promote inclusion.

Presenters
Mark Salzer, PhD is a licensed psychologist and Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Public Health at Temple University. He is also the Principal Investigator and Director of the Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities, a Rehabilitation Research and Training Center that has been funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research since 2003.
