This presentation will discuss the upcoming changes to the ACA Code of Ethics and how it impacts the counseling profession with specifics to Arizona licensed counselors. The new Code of Ethics is in response to critical issues that have warranted consideration by the ACA Code of Ethics Review Taskforce. These issues will be tied into the current trends of complaints filed with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify critical issues that have warranted consideration by the ACA Code of Ethics Revision Task Force.

  • Discuss the most challenging issues that manifest for counselors in Arizona, and how those are presently addressed in the context of licensing complaints.

  • Explain the implications of an updated ACA Code of Ethics for licensed professional counselors in Arizona.
