Description
In 2018 The American Psychological Association (APA) published an article that stated, Stress affects all systems of the body including the musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, nervous, and reproductive systems.
Today more than ever our social and psychosocial environment are impacted by threatening extremities and cataclysmic events. It is ever apparent that we need to support all our systems coherently if we are to function in the world today.
This presentation will focus on the concept that an increased coherence and awareness between our cardiovascular system (heart), the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord) , the peripheral nervous system and our emotions (brain), offers us the potential to increase our ability to self-regulate from a more intuitive, intelligent frame of reference.
Chiropractor, and Body Centred Leadership expert John Amaral, will deliver an experiential workshop, which will draw on the theories and practices of the scientifically validated Heartmath system, The polyvagal theory and the principles of somatic therapy and somatic awareness.
At the conclusion of this workshop attendees will be able to identify techniques that theoretically support an increased coherence between the nervous system, heart, and brain. To be better equipped to support patients that present with stress and anxiety.
