Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to increase knowledge about how to support asexual and consensually non-monogamous clients in healthcare settings.
Description
This knowledge-based virtual lecture seeks to help mental health professionals play a critical role in understanding and affirmatively supporting asexual and consensually non-monogamous clients in healthcare settings. The presentation will focus on challenging biases to avoid harmful pathologizing approaches and fostering acceptance and understanding of members of these communities. It will include de-identified case discussion of Veterans. Research on psychological practices will be reviewed to ensure clinicians have the tools to embrace the full spectrum of human sexuality and relationship structures, ensuring equitable and compassionate care for all.

Presenters
Jared Boot-Haury, PsyD (he/him) is a licensed clinical psychologist and a postdoctoral resident in clinical psychology specializing in LGBTQ+ health at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, where he provides training and clinical services and engages in research to improve the health of LGBTQ+ veterans. Jared is also a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). Additionally, he serves as the Policy and Government Affairs Chair and as a board member for GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality. Jared’s research interests focus on intersectional identities within the LGBTQIA+ community and cultural safety training for clinicians.
