Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is to empower social workers to develop a structured approach to identifying and solving social problems while maximizing their impact by utilizing social work principles and power dynamics.

Description

This session equips social workers with a framework for tackling complex problems. Through interactive activities, participants will revisit social work power principles, explore their problem-solving strategies, and collaboratively develop a framework for identifying and addressing critical issues. We’ll explore leveraging social work values and power dynamics to create positive change in our communities.

Shanequa E. Moore, LMSW

Shanequa E. Moore, LMSW is a thought-provoking leader, speaker, and subject matter expert. Ms. Moores’s mission in life is to bring systemic positive change, hope, and access to vulnerable children and families.

Ms. Moore is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the I’RAISE Girls & Boys International, a United States-based non-profit agency that has impacted over 30,000 kids and families in poverty through holistic programs.

Ms. Moore is an industry-specific innovator empowering local leaders to create equitable systems and policies to build a brighter future for the most disadvantaged families in their communities. As a subject matter expert, Ms. Moore brings people, leaders, stakeholders, and teams to the table to think out of the box, look at what’s not working, and strategize new methodologies by fostering teamwork across industries and sectors.

Ms. Moore has been a catalyst, challenging the status quo and old and former ways of thinking, empowering Social Work professionals as leaders and policy experts through transformative training and coaching. Ms. Moore is passionate about empowering Social Work professionals and Government employees to recognize their potential in their communities and to leverage their power to affect change in their communities.

Ms. Moore is also the Vice President of the National Association of Social Work-New York City Chapter. Other roles include Co-Chair of the Political Action Committee of Elections-National Association of Social Workers New York City. She is also the President and Founder of Moore Success Consulting Services Inc., a firm that provides corporate and leadership training/coaching for social service, government, and nonprofit agencies.

Ms. Moore designed an Integrative Mental Wellness program in 2014, which has become a model program to support thousands of youths with mental health in New York City. Moore brings political experience running for City Council in the New York City Primary elections 2021 has made her a catalyst to challenging social workers to pursue political positions to push humanity forward

Ms. Moore believes that accountability opens pathways for innovative change in people and governments. When leadership is accountable it leads its communities and people also to be accountable to themselves, their families, and their contribution to the world. Her goal is to bring hope to humanity by elevating people, families, and communities to build the capacity (through tools and resources) to leave a legacy for future generations to push humanity forward.

Ms. Moore continues her work in creating access for youth, families, and communities of color to break free from systemic oppression and from out of poverty to live holistic and thriving lives. She also continues to challenge and train nonprofits and governments on adopting ethical, culturally humble, and ethically responsible public policies and practices. She is known for shifting paradigms, and empowering institutions and leaders to think outside the box to solve complex city, state, and world crises. Her visionary leadership is not only inspiring but also critical for children and families alike in New York City and globally.
