Description
Until 2010, reliable high-speed internet for virtual therapy was unavailable across the USA, so family programming was delivered in person. COVID forced providers to quickly adapt to virtual programming for survival. Today, many professionals remain divided on in-person vs. virtual family programs, with in-person treatment still considered the "gold standard." Dr. Barnes will discuss the rationale for virtual programs, offering best practices to ensure they meet the same standards of coaching, education, and social support as in-person offerings.
Educational Goal
Increased understanding of: the complexity of virtual services; best practices for family programming; the pros and cons of virtual and in-person family programs; and key components of app-based family programming in terms of learning theory, game theory, family engagement, etc.
