Educational Goal
The educational goal of this workshop is to equip participants with the ability to care for themselves while also having new tools to share with clients.
Description
In this workshop, participants will learn and practice simple and profound experiential exercises for emotional self-care that can be used personally and shared with clients.

Presenters
Christie Bates is a licensed professional counselor for Mississippi and Tennessee, and an ordained minister of the Embracing Simplicity Contemplative Order. She has provided facilitation for mindfulness and compassion meditation for over a decade. She specializes in Brainspotting, a highly-targeted mindfulness practice for resolving trauma, creative expansion, and spiritual growth. She is the author of Accepting Your Resurrection (Booklocker, 2008) and The Beautiful Human: Contemplative Wisdom for Moving Beyond Diet Culture to Create a Life of Real and Lasting Beauty (2022). She administers The Beautiful Human App. Christie received a BA cum laude from Rhodes College in Memphis years before obtaining her MA in Mental Health Counseling thanks partly to the support of an Association of American University Women grant. She feels fortunate to have extensive experience working with individuals and families in residential and outpatient settings since 2007. She has served in full-time private practice for the last 6+ years through her sole proprietorship, Pāssati Counseling & Direction, and hosts regular free mindfulness meditation groups
