Description
Are you looking for an alternative to DBT? This Adaptive Mentalization-Based Integrative Treatment (AMBIT) Workshop will feature a blend of academic lectures and interactive skill-building activities, and will leave attendees equipped with AMBIT techniques that they can immediately put into practice. The AMBIT system of care has shown to be effective for clients who struggle with complex relationships with trust, change and hope, and the workers that support them. This workshop will be beneficial for practitioners who want to enhance their ability to support themselves, their teams and their colleagues through a mentalization-based approach.
AMBIT is a mentalization-based system of care designed to assist teams working with clients who struggle to trust help and helpers (Talbot & Fuggle, 2023). Developed 15 years ago at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families in London, AMBIT is an effective intervention due to its attention to mentalization, integration, collaboration, adaptability, and addressing of distrust and engagement (Fuggle, Fairbairn & Fonagy, 2023). AMBIT creates balance in teams that often feel unbalanced by prompting them to focus on its four domains of core practice: working with their client, working with their team, working within their wider network, and learning together with their team (Fuggle et al., 2016). When this balance, or even imbalance, is addressed and sustained, mentalization can also be sustained or recovered, and trust can be built.
