3. To gain strategies to nurture greater connectedness amid attention fragmentation.

Description

The presentation will address the innate need we all have for power and attention and the importance of helping adolescents and young adults meet this need. It will also look at how attention fragmentation is not only an obstacle to getting these needs meet but also an obstacle to the parents, clinicians, teachers and others who are guiding this young people.

Presenters

Lu Vaughn LCMHC, LPC, NCC, CPC, MPA
Lu Vaughn LCMHC, LPC, NCC, CPC, MPA received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Mars Hill College as well as a master’s in public Affairs and a Masters in Community Counseling, both from Western Carolina University. Lu has worked as an individual and family therapist since 1996. She has spent 7 years working internationally in therapeutic boarding schools and 16 years in wilderness therapy as both a primary therapist and clinical director. She currently works as a parent coach with Solutions Family Support and in her private practice which involves parent coaching groups, recovery program staff trainings, and individual and family recovery coaching. While Lu has worked with a wide variety of clinical issues, she has expertise in addiction, recovery, and defiance. Her current area of interest and study is how the attention fragmentation that is happening within our culture is affecting our adolescent and young adults as well as their parents and entire family system.
