The educational goal of this workshop is to provide a basic understanding of how to manage co-occurring trauma and substance use in early recovery.

Description

A trauma history is a common comorbidity with substance use disorders. This course covers the relationship between trauma and the early recovery phase of substance use treatment. We will review trauma responses that may present during treatment. Evidence-based skills and interventions will be identified and applied to support clients navigating early sobriety.

Presenters

Hannah Funderburk, MS, LPC, CPCS has been working in addiction treatment for more than 10 years after graduating from Georgia State University with her Master's in 2014. She has cultivated an expertise in co-occurring disorders and how they can impact long-term recovery. She is currently working as the Director of Clinical Services at Black Bear Lodge in the North Georgia Mountains.
