Educational Goal

The educational goal of this workshop is for participants to gain practical tools to recognize and use emotions as valuable information for improving professional effectiveness and client care. The course emphasizes emotional awareness, belief reframing, and evidence-based strategies for managing emotions with intention to enhance ethical decision-making, collaboration, and communication in clinical and workplace settings.

Description

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is an essential competency for effectiveness in clinical practice and professional relationships. This interactive training examines the foundational principles of EI using the Sailboat Metaphor, a structured framework that links emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to professional awareness and interpersonal effectiveness. Participants will learn to accurately identify and label emotions, analyze the beliefs that influence emotional responses in client and team interactions, and interpret emotions as valuable data that inform ethical decision-making and communication. Through guided discussions, applied case reflections, and experiential exercises, attendees will develop practical strategies to enhance emotional awareness, regulate responses, and strengthen collaboration and resilience within professional environments.

Dr. Will Meeks, Psy.D. Clinical Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness, Blue Rose Consulting Group Certified Resiliency Trainer | Master Mindset Life Coach | Behavioral Health Leader Dr. Will Meeks is an accomplished clinician, speaker, and presenter with over two decades of experience in the behavioral health field. He holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development. As a Certified Resiliency Trainer and Master Mindset Life Coach, Dr. Meeks brings an engaging, motivational presence to every audience, blending clinical expertise with practical tools for resilience, performance, and personal growth. Currently, Dr. Meeks serves as the Clinical Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness at Blue Rose Consulting Group, where he provides executive-level leadership and strategic oversight for all clinical programs and services. In this role, he ensures the highest standards of clinical care, compliance, quality assurance, and evidence-based practice across behavioral health initiatives. As a licensed clinician, Dr. Meeks serves as the organization’s top authority on clinical standards, guiding program development, supervising clinical leadership, and integrating behavioral health services with Blue Rose’s broader organizational goals and mission. Dr. Meeks’ experience with the Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program began in 2006. Over his tenure, he has held nearly every position within the program, including roles in the MFLC School Program and Special Operations. His leadership portfolio includes serving as Clinical Manager for both CONUS and OCONUS operations and as Manager of the MFLC Counseling Center of Excellence, where he oversaw mission assurance, training, certification, licensure maintenance, and centralized communications. He also served as Director of Behavioral Health within the Special Operations Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) Program, supporting the psychological readiness and resilience of elite military personnel and their families. With a career dedicated to service, leadership, and wellness, Dr. Meeks has established himself as a thought leader and mentor in the behavioral health community. He is passionate about fostering resilience, advancing mental health solutions, and inspiring others to achieve their full potential through a mindset of growth and purpose.
